Photovoltaic systems at Storck
We are continuously pursuing the installation of photovoltaic systems for the production of climate-neutral solar electricity at our sites. In conjunction with additional measures, using solar energy will contribute to covering over 50% of our electricity consumption with our own power generation by 2030.

Our production facilities in Halle and Ohrdruf are rural in character and correspondingly spacious. They offer areas suitable for the effective use of solar energy and electricity production. With photovoltaic systems tailored to local conditions, we produce our own climate-neutral electricity on roofs and with ground-mounted installations.
Large solar field in Ohrdruf
We have installed a large ground-mounted photovoltaic system with a maximum output of 2,500 kWp in Ohrdruf. 4,240 solar modules have been connected on the factory premises in Thuringia. Fourteen 180-metre rows in the northern part of the factory premises form a solar field covering approximately 16,200 square metres.

Suitable roof areas in Halle
In Halle, Storck is using roof areas of production, warehouse and administrative buildings for solar electricity generation with photovoltaic systems. Climate-neutral energy is produced by a total of 1,200 solar modules, for example, on the new high-bay racking warehouse opened in 2024. Further projects to utilise solar energy are already being planned for the Halle site. For example, new solar modules are being installed here on the new central workshop building and a production building, and will produce about 900 MWh of additional electricity per year.

Future prospects
Based on the CO2 equivalent of Germany’s electricity mix, we are already saving about 1,500 tons of CO2e per year with the existing solar installations in Ohrdruf and Halle. This is approximately equal to the amount emitted by driving six million kilometres with a combustion engine vehicle. We intend to continuously expand the use of renewable energy sources. That is why our construction experts ensure that new buildings are designed for the installation of photovoltaic systems starting in the planning phase.
Figures, data and facts
Around 6,700 solar modules have already been installed plant-wide.
We produce up to 3,300,000 kWh per year with these modules.
The photovoltaic systems save around 1,300 tons of CO2e per year.
